In 2002, when Lithuania felt great scarcity of information on non-commercial tourist events, analyzed the information dissemination and effectiveness, Tourism Academy team began setting up information dissemination online - www.turistas.lt

During the six years of existence the site, we have increased members of our team, plenty of information as well as plenty of visitors, and we are constantly expanding our activities. Currently website retain the leadership in presenting a comprehensive, extensive and constantly updated information for tourists in Lithuania.

Our objectives are:
- To encourage people to learn about Lithuania, its cultural, natural and historical treasures;
- To encourage people to take an active leisure and travel by various means;
- To provide the broadest and details information for Lithuanian tourists in one place;
- To encourage more people and organizations to share the tourist information among others.

We continuously improve and now spread the news in several ways: on the Web and using new technologies - RSS, WAP, SMS, e-mail, as well as the press (15min), and others.

Our mission - to develop interactive, socially, environmentally friendly, conscious and culture interested tourists.
