One of the most popular and beautiful parts of Georgia, is located in the southwestern part, on the coast of the Black Sea. As an autonomous republic, it has its own flag and coat of arms, and borders Turkey to the south.

In the 1st century it was from Adjara that Christianity began to spread in Georgia, which was declared a state religion in the 4th century. Apostles St. Andrew and Simon Kananit preached Christianity here

Today Adjara is an example of peaceful coexistence of many religious confessions. Here you can find Christian and Muslim monuments, synagogue, Catholic and Armenian churches.

The administrative center of the region is the Black Sea gem Batumi, which was built in the 20's by European architects, and today is the symbol of many architectural innovations. Batumi was named one of the best tourist destinations by American Academy of Hospitality in 2012, and according to Forbes the city is one of the five best resorts for vacationing in the "Velvet Season".
